Participant Profile:

International doctoral candidates of Freie Universität that are finalizing their doctorate.

The coaching consists of 6 sessions. Participants are expected to participate in all sessions. Absence due to illness is accepted if a medical certificate is handed in.

Objectives:

What now? A lot of candidates wonder about this question after finishing their doctorate. What are my abilities? What am I really good at? What am I equipped to do with my professional life? This workshop series gives room and context to individually reflect about these questions. Participants will learn about their competencies, personal motivation as well as typical career paths in Germany. While this workshop is not about occupational counseling it will give the participants a good idea to what their personal career goal(s) based on individual motives and skills set could be and what the next steps are to get there. Participants will also investigate what "success" means to them. Furthermore the workshop will discuss issues of work life balance, starting a family and in which way gender and diversity influence career development.

The course will be in German or English resp. bilingual depending on the preferences of the participants.
